On Saturday the 7th August 2021, North East Fly Casting Club (NEFCC) are holding an open day, or “Back to Angling Day” where local anglers, their friends and families of all ages and abilities can come along and enjoy taking part.
The day will include:
- A range of demonstrations by very well respected fly casting instructors, free coaching opportunities from very experienced and highly qualified fly casting coaches (both double and single handed)
- The chance to try their hand at fly tying, kick sampling and bug identification with the local Salmon and Trout Conservation branch
- Coarse fishing led by our regional Angling Trust Development Officer Dave Munt
- Opportunity to try out and play with a range of gear from top tackle manufacturers including Loop, Sage, Vision, Rio and Reddington.
The event will take place at Dilston fishery between Corbridge and Hexham on the river Tyne and be completely free to all-comers, save for the price of a coffee and sausage sandwich from the barbecue.
In short, it should be a great day out with something for all and bringing your waders/wellies and a rod is very much part of it for those who’d like to get stuck in.
All activities will be up and running for a 10am start and continue throughout the day, but the welcoming address from local angler Robson Green and the first demonstrations will not begin until 11am so no-one will miss out!
