Grantchester officially wrapped filming on final season

It’s the end of an era in Cambridgeshire. The beloved ITV drama Grantchester has officially wrapped filming for its 11th and final season, with cast members spotted shooting emotional farewell scenes on Grantchester Meadows.

Farewell on the Meadows

The cast of Grantchester gathered on the iconic Grantchester Meadows to film the final scenes of the long-running ITV drama, marking the end of an 11-year journey. Emotions ran high as hugs, tears, and heartfelt goodbyes were exchanged among cast and crew.

Cast Moments

Robson Green (DI Geordie Keating) and Rishi Nair (Rev. Alphy Kottaram) were seen walking together, visibly moved. Other familiar faces like Al Weaver (Leonard Finch), Tessa Peake-Jones (Mrs. Chapman), and Kacey Ainsworth (Cathy) joined the farewell, along with newer cast members.

The atmosphere was one of deep camaraderie and reflection.

Behind the Scenes

Photos from the shoot captured the cast in costume, strolling through the meadows, sharing laughs and quiet moments. The natural beauty of the location added a nostalgic backdrop to the emotional send-off.

End of an Era

The final season is set in 1963, with characters facing pivotal decisions. Geordie is offered a new role that could end his partnership with Alphy, while Alphy explores his roots and deepens his relationship with Meg, the bishop’s daughter.

Robson Green described the experience as “bittersweet,” noting that the friendships formed on set “extend far beyond the camera lens”

Adapted from James Runcie’s Grantchester Mysteries, the show has been a fixture on screens since 2014. With its signature blend of crime-solving and heartfelt storytelling, it’s no wonder we are all feeling the loss.
