Robson Green Extreme Fishing

The No.1 Bestseller

Actor and passionate fisherman Robson Green is on a mission to discover the weird, the wonderful and the way-off-limits that the angling world has to offer.

Complete with exclusive off-camera capers, top locations and best and worst catches, this laugh-out-loud adventure is jam-packed full of facts, fishing tips and, most importantly, fun.

2 March 2009 (Channel 5 UK)

British Columbia, Canada: Robson heads out on the Fraser River to land British Columbia’s largest game fish – the mighty sturgeon! This living fossil can reach weights of over 1000lbs and up to 12ft in length. If Robson aims high he can expect to land an 8ft 400lb fish. This prehistoric beast will have Robson’s muscles aching as the line screams and the sturgeon takes off.

Fish featured: White sturgeon, sablefish, prawn, steelhead, coho salmon.

9 March 2009 (Channel 5 UK)

Alaska: Robson will be afloat in the Gulf of Alaska, aiming to catch some of his most unusual fish yet. Aboard the Crackerjack, Captain Andy Mezirow will be on hand to help Robson reel in huge flatfish like the Halibut and Turbot as well as rockfish like the Yelloweye and Lingcod.

Fish featured: Northern pike, king salmon, Pacific cod, coho salmon, rainbow trout.

16 March 2009 (Channel 5 UK)

New Zealand: New Zealand is a fishing lover’s paradise – from geo-thermic natural lakes to crystal clear rivers to vast bountiful oceans! It’s Robson’s idea of heaven and outside the UK, the one place in the world he’d love to live!

Fish featured: Kahawai, school shark, hapuka, reef shark, frost fish, gurnard, crayfish, rainbow trout, green-lipped mussel.

23 March 2009 (Channel 5 UK)

Northern Australia: It’s time to flip Robson’s experience on its head! We’ve watched him struggle through the bitter, arctic cold, catching some mean fish along the way. But what happens Down Under, while we’re staving off frostbite? In our bitter January, it’s the middle of their summer. So Robson is heading to the southern hemisphere to catch some of their summer fish.

Fish featured: Barramundi, milkfish, sole, prawn, crab, box jellyfish, leopard whipray, blue mackerel, Spanish mackerel, coral trout, purple cod, red snapper, giant trevally.

30 March 2009 (Channel 5 UK)

North Atlantic: Starting in Boston, Robson will work his way up the Eastern seaboard in freezing weather conditions to meet and work with men for whom fishing is literally a matter of life or death. He’ll brave icy waters, rough seas and raging river torrents to pull in the giant fish that have made the eastern seaboard a fishing Mecca for centuries.

Fish featured: Atlantic bluefin tuna, lobster, striped bass, bluefish, blackfish, steelhead, spiny dogfish.

6 April 2009 (Channel 5 UK)

Southern Australia: More commonly called ‘reds’, these fish are readily caught during the cooler months at night in the deep water and fight all the way to the boat. During the day light hours only the very experienced of fishermen know their haunts and try extensively to guard their secret location so Robson will have to get in with the locals if he has any chance of catching this beautiful fish.

Fish featured: Common octopus, blue-ringed octopus, blue manna crab, gummy shark, abalone, blacklip abalone.

13 April 2009 (Channel 5 UK)

Thailand: After wearing thermals vests and fishing out of frozen lakes it’s time for Robson to head to the chaotic Thai capital of Bangkok. Admittedly it isn’t the first place most people would think of visiting for a fishing trip. It is famous for many things such as the temples, the Nightlife, the Traffic and as the Hub of South East Asia but not so much as a top fishing venue.

Fish featured: Redtail catfish, alligator gar, arapaima, rohu, Mekong giant catfish, giant freshwater stingray.
