It’s not every day you get a TV star and his charming uncle painting lakeside landscapes – but that’s exactly what happened when Robson Green and Uncle Matheson (aka “Taff” to the locals) turned a fly-fishing getaway into an impromptu art session at Coldingham Loch.
During filming for Robson Green’s Weekend Escapes (Series 3, Episode 15), the duo bunked down at Lochside Cottage in 2024 and spent a glorious day casting lines and soaking up the serenity. But the real catch? Taff gave Robson a spontaneous masterclass in landscape painting – right there on the banks of their favourite fishing spot.

Fast forward to this year, and those two original paintings – crafted with heart and humour – were signed and donated by Robson and Taff to help raise funds for the beloved St Abbs Lifeboat. Thanks to the generosity of Jenny and Chris at Number Four Gallery in St Abbs (who framed and showcased the artwork), the raffle was a runaway success, reeling in a fantastic £870.
Carmel and Gareth, the driving forces behind the initiative, want to send a huge thank you to everyone who bought tickets, to Jenny and Chris for their tireless support, and of course to Robson and Taff for making time to personally hand over the paintings to the lucky winners – Moira and Gus Skene of St Abbs.

And the good vibes don’t stop there. The annual Charity Day at Coldingham Loch is just around the corner – happening on Sunday 28th September. Expect raffles, prizes, and plenty of community spirit.
