Robson Green’s Weekend Escapes S3

Made and produced in the North East by the locally-based Signpost Entertainment and Rivers Meet Productions, Robson Green will once again explore the region’s coast and countryside, and elsewhere across the North.

Celebrating everything about the North East, Robson will continue to highlight the beauty of Northern England, but also the importance of reconnecting with nature.

‘I’m having the best time filming series three of Robson Green’s Weekend Escapes with friends, family, and familiar faces,’ says Robson. ‘Once again, we take roads less travelled to a multitude of hidden gems that showcase the North in all its glory and we remind ourselves that we can seek serenity right on our doorstep, creating a wonderful comfort blanket for the soul. For me, it’s the best series yet!’

In series three, he’ll be joined by presenter Helen Skelton, former world champion boxer Nicola Adams and comedian Rosie Jones, and the series will continue to showcase the unbeaten tracks around Northumberland, County Durham, North Yorkshire and the Lakes.

Robson has taken to social media to share the news and on Instagram Robson shared a snap with local singer Joe McElderry, saying he ‘had a wonderful few days filming the new series of Robson Green’s Weekend Escapes’. ‘Joe is someone who reminds us of the power of music to uplift, inspire and unite people from all walks of life,’ Robson continues. ‘He’s an entertainer from the North East whose rise to stardom from the humble town of South Shields is nothing short of extraordinary.’

He also revealed viewers will see the two of them dragon board with Fenwick Ridley and stay in a bell tent at Tranwell Farm!

Episode 1: Monday 10 February 2025

Robson Green's Weekend Escapes with Kacey Ainsworth

After spending a decade married on screen, Robson invites his Grantchester co-star Kacey Ainsworth for a weekend staycation in the beautiful north east of England.

After a quick cup of tea, the pair head to the River Tyne to reset, recharge and revitalise themselves with a cold water swim, then head back to Robson’s house to have a go at making pottery. As the weather holds out, Kacey and Robson make pizzas in the actor’s back garden before turning in for the night.

The following day, Robson takes Kacey to one of his favourite spots in the region, Vindolanda. They conclude their weekend escape hiking one of the area’s many hills to enjoy some good food and luxuriate in the landscape below.

Episode 2: Tuesday 11 February 2025

Robson Green's Weekend Escapes with Nicola Adams

Presenter Robson Green is joined by former world and Olympic champion boxer Nicola Adams to explore the North Yorkshire countryside. Nicola, who is now retired, grew up in Leeds – a stone’s throw away from the incredible landscape of North Yorkshire. After meeting Robson, they head into the woods to increase their heart rates by having a go at an assault course.

Following that physical effort, Robson takes Nicola to a Himalayan garden, where they have a go at yoga to calm both their bodies and their minds.

After Nicola leaves for the night, Robson rests his weary head in a secluded shepherd’s hut before having a go at the art of glass fusing.

Episode 3: Wednesday 12 February 2025

Robson Green's Weekend Escapes with Rupert Penry-Jones

Robson gives pal and fellow actor Rupert Penry-Jones a weekend break on the Northumberland coast. The Silk and Whitechapel actor joins Robson in Bamburgh, where they take a lesson in surfing. A first for the pair of them is an introduction to snuba – a cross between scuba diving and snorkelling.

The seashore theme continues when Robson and Rupert reclaim their childhood by rock pooling and making art from beach-combed materials.

Episode 4: Thursday 13 February 2025

Robson Green's Weekend Escapes with Mark Benton

Robson Green is joined by his good friend Mark Benton for a trip to Dumfries and Galloway in the Scottish Borders. The friends push themselves to the limit jumping in and out of the cold water while trying canyoning, and they then head to their digs on the top of a hill with stunning views of the Solway.

On day two of their escape to the Borders, Robson and Mark have a go at making natural dye before trying their luck at haaf netting – an ancient fishing method.

Robson Green's Weekend Escapes with his siblings

Robson, his sisters Dawn and Joanna, and his brother David head into Northumberland for a camping trip with a difference. Hiring SUVs with their own tents, they drive through the beautiful countryside for a family trip away guaranteed to make memories.

The siblings make their first stop to have a go at canoeing before they had to the field they’re staying in, only to be greeted by a thick sea fret. Not to be deterred, the siblings make camp and wake up to lovely sunshine. There, they have a go at drawing each other in caricature before flying birds of prey.

Episode 6: Monday 17 February 2025

Robson Green's Weekend Escapes with Rosie Jones

Comedian Rosie Jones shares childhood haunts with Robson in her home county of North Yorkshire. They get out the deck chairs on Filey Beach before going for a paddle and diving into a pop-up sauna. A scenic drive inland to Newby Hall to explore the famous gardens follows and gives the pair a chance to chat about Rosie’s career.

A gentle river cruise sees Robson and Rosie relax surrounded by nature and wildlife as they show how spending time in nature can be a great way to chill out. Before heading home to Northumberland, Robson takes a boat from Scarborough to go sea fishing and bird watching.

Episode 7: Tuesday 18 February 2025

Robson Green's Weekend Escapes with Laura Norton

Emmerdale actor Laura Norton joins Robson for a relaxing break in the stunning Yorkshire Dales. An electric-powered cycle through sweeping views in Swaledale kicks off their weekend. The ruins of Jervaulx Abbey are the setting for their overnight stay, and there’s a lesson in kite making and flying.

The outdoor mini break is set to paper as Robson and Laura explore the benefits of a guided walk to create their very own poetry at Thorp Perrow.

Episode 8: Wednesday 19 February 2025

Robson Green's Weekend Escapes with Joe McElderry

Presenter Robson Green is accompanied on a two-day escape into the wilds of Northumberland by star of the West End Joe McElderry. The pair head first to a secluded lough to have a go at dragon paddle boarding before heading to their farmland accommodation.

Joe often holidayed on farms when he was younger, and he uses the skills he learnt as he and Robson have a go at trimming a prize-winning sheep. After that, the pair have a go at wood turning, allowing them to focus completely on the task and forget the stresses and strains of everyday life.

Episode 9: Thursday 20 February 2025

Robson Green's Weekend Escapes with Kieran Reilly

BMX world champion and Olympics silver medal winner Kieran Reilly heads to Northumberland for a weekend to relax, reset and recharge with Robson Green. After shooting to fame in the 2024 Olympics in Paris, Robson is keen to show Kieran how he switches off – by fishing in the River Tyne. The pair then head north to try qi gong, an ancient martial art to relax the mind and body.

Their digs for the night are spectacular. Kieran spending the night in a black tower with a retractable roof for star gazing.

As dawn breaks, Robson and Kieran are given a spray-paint lesson before they try their legs at getting into the countryside on electric bikes.

Episode 10: Friday 21 February 2025

Robson Green's Weekend Escapes with his nephew and brother

Robson is joined for a family boys’ weekend by his nephew Daymon, brother David and his uncle Matheson. The foursome clamber into a camper van and head south to County Durham. The first stop sees them don wetsuits to have a go at white water tubing in an extremely cold river.

Feeling refreshed and revitalised, the group head to their digs for a sit down and a chat around the fire as night falls. On day two of their 48-hour retreat, Robson, Daymon, David and Matheson are treated to an outdoor blacksmithing class before walking into the woods to work on staying in the moment and relaxing.

Robson Green's Weekend Escapes with Helen Skelton

Robson Green takes a scenic route to the south of the Lake District to meet up with his friend and former Blue Peter presenter Helen Skelton. Helen gets a surprise when Robson takes her to walk with wolves in their natural habitat, and they then relax with a meditation session.

After saying goodbye to Helen, Robson has a truly off-grid experience in his digs. And the following morning, Robson heads to a disused quarry for a scuba diving experience that will live long in the memory.

Robson Green's Weekend Escapes with Janette Manrara

Former Strictly dancer Janette Manrara meets up with Robson Green in County Durham as they seek out things to do in north east England to relax, recharge and reset.

The pair take to a lake in kayaks to reconnect with a ‘blue space’ before being led through a guided meditation by a former soldier.

When they reach Robson’s digs for the night, Robson and Janette are given a dance lesson from a couple who made their name on Strictly’s forerunner, Come Dancing.

Robson Green's Weekend Escapes with Chris Baber

Robson enjoys the company of Hexham-born celebrity chef Chris Baber on a weekend of outdoor activities. Chris takes Robson shopping for organic ingredients for dinner. Robson takes Chris sailing on Kielder Reservoir.

The pair spend the night on a Northumberland farm before taking a tour of the livestock and landscape. The weekend comes to a close with an exhilarating quad bike trip near the Tyne Valley.

Episode 14: Thursday 27 February 2025

Robson Green's Weekend Escapes with Steve Cram

Robson spends this weekend break in the company of sporting legend Steve Cram. The middle-distance runner and broadcaster joins Robson on a boat trip from Seahouses to the Farne Islands to watch seals and seabirds.

The duo take to the beach to sample the practice of ‘walking meditation’ as they create labyrinths in the sand. The mini break ends in a session of green woodworking at a bush craft site near the Northumberland National Park.

Robson Green's Weekend Escapes with Matheson Green

Robson is joined by his uncle Matheson as the pair head to the Scottish Borders for a weekend in the outdoors to relax and reset. On their way to their favourite fishing spot in Coldingham, they have a go at hedge laying before Matheson relives his youth riding horses on the beach.
