Following plenty of excitement and a star-studded premiere at Newcastle’s Tyneside Cinema, brand-new BBC crime drama The Northumbria Mysteries has officially arrived on our screens.
Excitement surged across the North East earlier this year when cameras began rolling on the eight-part series. Geordie acting icon Robson Green leads the charge as Joe Ruby, an ex-convict and gambler caught up in high-stakes murder investigations while navigating a community rehabilitation programme.

Robson is joined by a stellar cast featuring Life on Mars star Liz White as DI Rose O’Connell, entertainment legend Simon Callow, and Ackley Bridge actor Gurjeet Singh.
After premiering to invited guests in Newcastle, the show officially launched on BBC One this week. The eight-part series airs every Friday afternoon, with the first block of four episodes also released on BBC iPlayer for those who prefer to binge-watch.

With the stunning Northumberland landscape playing a starring role of its own, viewers have been treated to incredible local scenery. If you’ve been watching and wondering exactly where the cameras rolled, here is the complete list of areas featured in The Northumbria Mysteries:
- Alnmouth
- Alnwick

There will have been others. If you spotted any that we missed – let us know the location and which episode it appears in 🙂
