Set against the sweeping drama of the Northumberland coastline and the vibrant market towns that define the region, The Northumbria Mysteries introduces Robson Green as Joe Ruby – a resourceful jack‑of‑all‑trades whose past is marked by missteps, regrets and roads not taken.

Joe’s world collides with that of DI Rose O’Connell (Liz White), an Oxford‑educated investigator with a razor‑sharp intellect and an ice‑cool composure. Brilliant, methodical and unflappable, Rose is everything Joe is not.

Together, they form a compelling odd‑couple partnership. As their contrasting styles spark friction and unexpected moments of connection, Joe and Rose navigate the mysteries woven through the landscapes and communities of the North East – uncovering truth, challenging each other, and surprising themselves along the way.
